UDS Data Mapper
Account & Login Issues
Who can use the UDS Data Mapper? How do I get an account?
The UDS Data Mapper is accessible to both liquidator and guaranty fund users. You can request an account by emailing [email protected] and a member of our team will be in contact with more details.   Â

Uploading Files
What is the difference between Secure UDS (SUDS) and UDS Data Mapper?
The main difference to note is that SUDS is accessed via an SFTP program installed on your computer (such as WinSCP, Filezilla, etc) whereas the UDS Data Mapper is accessed via an internet browser at mapper.guarantysupport.com
Working with Maps
Do I need to map to all of the provided fields?
Working with Batches
My fund mistakenly received UDS files for claims that belong to a different state. What should I do?
First, contact the Receiver and the desired destination fund to explain the situation. The Receiver should be notified before doing any transfer, and the receiving fund should be aware that the transfer is happening.
There are two options for getting the records to their correct destination:
-
- Utilize the Transfer feature of the UDS Data Mapper to change the destination and send the records where they belong.
- Ask the Receiver to re-send the batch through the UDS Data Mapper with the correct location codes.
In either case, the files that were received in error should be immediately deleted.

If you have already sent the batch, you can also utilize the recall feature.
File Creation and State Configuration
Should I create a separate file for each state? Is the "To" state each insured state, or is it all the state of domicile?
UDS Data Mapper uses “File Location State” and “File Location Code” to determine the destination Guaranty Fund. Include these columns in your A Record CSV file. The File Location Code is typically ’10’ for Property & Casualty coverage or ’11’ for Workers Compensation in states with a dedicated SUDS location for WC (otherwise use ’10’). This code determines the SFTP destination for your UDS files. In most cases, the P&C and WC organizations are the same entity, so files arrive at the same SUDS location regardless of the UDS file name. Some states have separate guaranty funds for Property/Casualty and Workers Compensation insurance. These include Florida, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
Should the "From State" be the state of domicile or the policy state?
The “From State” is automatically derived from a hidden column in the UDS Data Mapper database—you don’t need to provide it. This is typically the insurance company’s domicile state with a File Location Code of ’01’ indicating Receiver status.
Data Entry and Validation
Should I use the insolvency date or the policy termination date?
The insolvency date is not currently used for UDS Data processing and can be ignored. While future UDS Data Mapper enhancements may include high-level information about insolvent companies and validation rules, these features are still in development and won’t affect current processing.
What File Location Code should I use?
Use File Location Code ’10’ for most coverages (as referenced on page 120 of the documentation). The specific code depends on the type of coverage—’10’ for Property & Casualty or ’11’ for Workers Compensation where applicable.
How should I handle business names that exceed the field length limit?
Long business names can be split across two name fields. Use both the primary name field and name field #2 to preserve complete business names. Note that many claim systems may concatenate these fields during processing.
Should the Insured Address be the mailing address or garaging address?
Use the mailing address for the Insured Address field. While address requirements may vary by coverage type (Workers Compensation vs. Property), the mailing address is standard for property coverage. In past insolvencies, both Insured and Claimant addresses have served different purposes when properly communicated to the Guaranty Fund.
